Dr. Stevens moved to the Cumming area in 2005 to continue his desire to practice dentistry with a deep desire to care for patients as family and build long-term relationships similar to those he had in Duluth where he had several generations of family members. He had a solo practice in Hickory Flat for several years before deciding he was ready to enjoy dentistry without owning the business.
He and his wife, Susan, have three children Eliza, Adam, and Layne.  Eliza followed in her father’s footsteps becoming a dentist.  She and her husband, also a dentist, live in Augusta with their two children. Adam and his wife live in Greensboro with their two daughters. He has his own business as a farrier. Layne and her husband live in Cumming with their two children. Layne is a small animal veterinarian in Sugar Hill.
Jim and Susan enjoy spending time with their family and six grandchildren, trail riding their horses, UGA football, and loving on all their pets. Jim also enjoys woodworking.
